"I'm getting hungry." Kaine complained as he shifted to leaned against a building, watching more fortunate citizens pass by the alley. A shop door opened, and echoed down the street. A well dress man had started to lock the door behind him, not paying much mind to the people around him.

"Dein, here's our chance." he spoke softly to his younger brother, who nodded hesitantly. Swiftly, the young man approached the shop keep, pulling out his pocket knife, "Good evening, kind sir, I'm afraid I'll be taking our money now."

"I'm not sure, I know what you mean." The shop owner tried to focus his eyes on the two figures in front of him.

"What I mean sir, is I am divesting you of the cash you so apparently have extra of. You see, if you don't, I'll be forced to either wound or kill you." he gave a wry grin, twirling the knife playfully.

"So just a causal mugging?" The owner whispered under his breath. He smirked as he reached for the blade kept on his hip, only to remembered those times were left far in the past.

"It had best be your wallet you are reaching for, sir." Kaine chuckled.

"Brother, he's unarmed, let's leave him be. This doesn't feel right." The formerly silent younger male, spoke lightly.

"Why yes it is." The man smiled, as he removed the wallet and tossed on his shop's balcony. "Looks like you'll have to earn it now."

The taller brother laughed, as he examined the wall. "A clever challenge, good sir." Without another word, he scaled up the wall.

"I'm terribly sorry about this, Mr..." The younger looked up at the planned victim, apologetic and inquiring.

"Lawrence." He replied as he patted the younger boy on the head, then reached out and grabbed the others' ankle. "Don't think I'm going to make it easy on you. After all an ex-knight shouldn't give up, once the challenge is accepted."

Kaine tried to shake him off, fallingdown the wall. "A knight, what an honor!" he chuckled, jumping back a few feet before leaping up the wall again.

"Please don't hurt yourselves!" Dein pleaded in a concerned tone.

"You should listen to your companion." Lawrence chastised, he place a firm grip back on the muggers ankle, but this time pulling down. "Also you should know you're going for the definition of insanity,” he paused, “Trying to repeat the same action in hopes to gain a different result."

"It seems you're quicker than I thought." Kaine looked up, growling slightly.

"I knew this was a bad idea." the younger brother sighed. "Please forgive his idiocy...I would gladly come to work for you if you would give me a small bit of money or food..."

"Help, I never thought about it before." Lawrence admitted. "But how would I know you guys wouldn't just take from me, while my back was turned?"

Kaine looked between the two frowning as he stood and dusted himself off. "I have a bit more honor than that."

Dein gave him a thoughtful look before taking a golden chain with a diamond locket from his pocket. "This was our mother's. If I let you hold this, you know we'll come back for it."

Lawrence hesitantly took the locket from the boy, "Then it's a deal. Now it's only fitting that you give me your names."

"I am Kaine Delkru." Kaine spoke formally, standing up straight.

"And I'm Dein. I appreciate this very much, Mr. Lawrence." He gave a cute smile.

Lawrence nodded to the names, "Well, I can't let my workers wear rags. As they say it's time to suite up." Lawrence produced a key from his upper breast pocket and unlocked his shop. The two boys looked down at themselves in slight embarrassment before following him into the shop. Lawrence lead them past the lock cases of gold and silver pocket watches, then to a door against the back wall. "This is my home." He opened the door to a a plain living room. "You may look about, while I check my closet." He then headed up stairs; which branched out form the living room.

"Figures he'd have a nice place." Kaine grins, looking around for anything that might be valuable.

"I know what you're thinking, brother. Don't you dare try to pocket his things; while he's being this kind to us." Dein spoke firmly, while looking around nervously.

There were a few loud thumps from above, and after a moment Lawrence headed back down the stairs. "I found some old clothes. That looked like it would fit you two."

They both looked at him slightly surprised. Kaine was the one to speak, "What in the name of Thor happened up there?"

Dein shot a glare at him before speaking sweetly, "I hope it wasn't much trouble"

"I had to get into some of my old chests, but it wasn't a problem. After all, it would be nice to see these clothes back in use." Lawrence handed the clothes to the two of them.

Kaine took the clothes and examined them. "These are actually pretty nice."

Dein smiled happily. "As long as you aren't hurt. Is there a place where we could change?"

"I have a wash room over here." He led them to a small hall, and tapped on a door which was across what appeared to be a kitchen. They followed silently, Kaine looking around, inspecting every detail.

"You have a nice home, Mr. Lawrence." Dein spoke respectfully, leading his brother in, and changing quickly before coming back out. "Thank you so much."

Lawrence smiled in acknowledgment, "Well, now that your dressed, I think we should focus on dinner. What do you two like to eat?"

"I'm so hungry I'd settle for eating a plate." Kaine spoke cynically.

"I'll accept anything you'd find suitable." Dein answered politely.

"Hmm...I was planning to go out, so lets stick to that." Lawrence spoke, "What do you two say?" He was a little too enthusiastic.

Kaine gave a slight chuckle. "If you're that eager, I'm fine with that!"

Dein gave a light giggle. "That sounds wonderful, as long it's not too much trouble."

"It's not." Lawrence stated as he headed to the door. "It would be nice to have company for a change."

The two followed him close, smiling a bit eagerly as well. "It's been a while since we ate at all." Kaine said. "'Bout the whole 'robbing you' thing...I'm sorry."

"We were just getting a bit desperate." Dein said shamefully. "We'll gladly be your company as long as you like."

"Apologies are not needed. You two just needed a chance to prove yourself, and now you got one." Lawrence locked the door and moved to the nearest restaurant. "So don't let me down."

"Wouldn't dream of it." Kaine replied.

"I'll do my best!" Dein joyfully followed Lawrence, anticipating a decent meal.
I am happy, that my friend and I can start this project once again. I can't promise too much, but we'll do our best! ^W^
